Sam Charney, principal
Sam Charney is a real estate professional whose project planning, design skills, construction management, and development experience make him one of New York City’s most respected and dynamic young developers. From 2004-2012 he developed over 1 million square feet of commercial office space and residential apartments for Two Trees Management Co. LLC serving in the role of lead project executive and co-head of acquisitions. Additionally he was a co-founder of Two Trees’s construction company GreenStar Builders LLC and self-performed all of their Brooklyn based projects from acquisition through lease up.
Sam is currently developing close to half a million mixed use square feet in Long Island City and Williamsburg for his own company Charney Construction & Development. He has been featured and interviewed by several of the industry’s leading publications, and is a guest lecturer at the Schack Institute of Real Estate at New York University. In 2006, he won Brooklyn Building Awards for his work on the West Elm Corporate Offices and Waterfront Media Headquarters at 45 Main Street, and took home an additional award for his national historic registry gut renovation of 164 Atlantic Avenue in 2008. In 2012 Sam was awarded the prestigious NYU Bart Lawson Award for Humanitarianism for his work with blind athletes and in 2017 his first solo Development “The Jackson” at 11-51 47th Avenue won the Queens Chamber of Commerce Award for Best New Multifamily Building.
Justin Pelsinger, COO
Justin Pelsinger is Chief Operating Officer of Charney Construction and Development. He brings extensive experience in project management, investment analysis, underwriting and equity/debt structuring. Prior to joining Charney Construction and Development, Justin was a Senior Associate with GFI Development Company and an Analyst with Moin Development Corporation where he managed over 500,000 square feet in development projects throughout New York City.
Justin was honored as a recipient of the Commercial Observer's “Top 30 under 30 of Commercial Real Estate.” He has authored numerous industry-focused publications and has spoken on issues relating to real estate development at the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate.
Justin earned his bachelor’s degree from the Pennsylvania State University and his master’s degree in Real Estate Finance from New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, REISA and Construction Management Association of America.
elizabeth lagana, Chief of staff
Elizabeth Lagana is a career development and construction professional. After honing her craft at Two Trees Management Co., LLC, for 10 years, Liz left to become Chief of Staff at CC&D.
As a valuable team member Liz also brings her passion of preservation and conservation by adding insight and oversight to special landmarked projects CC&D undertakes. She's also responsible for coordintaing and scheduling all construction personnel.
Andrew Steiker-Epstein, VP of Sales / Leasing and Marketing
Andrew Steiker-Epstein is VP of Sales / Leasing and Marketing for CC&D. As an experienced real estate agent and investor, with a specific focus on value-add property and ground up projects, Andrew delivers an important skill-set to his role in development. With a keen ability to identify value, underwrite transactions, and optimize sales strategy, he’s established himself as an excellent complement to his colleagues.
Formerly a real estate agent with Compass, one of the largest and fastest growing brokerages in New York City, Andrew helped close over $50,000,000 in gross sales during a two year span. He also holds the position of board president in a Brooklyn condo and co-op respectively where he manages building finances and maintenance while maximizing value for owners.
Andrew holds a bachelor’s degree from Bates College and studied real estate finance at Baruch College. He is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York.
